This is especially useful for journalists who have to record and transcribe long interviews. The accuracy isn’t quite as good as live dictation but it’s a lot faster than typing it out. It also has Smart Format Rules which understand how you want phone numbers, dates, abbreviations and other data to appear.Īnother nice touch is that you can import audio clips from a device such as your iPhone and Dragon Professional will transcribe it into text. Other dictation apps simply don’t feature this level of Deep Learning sophistication or accuracy.ĭragon Professional is ideal for office environments as it’s optimized for reducing background noise such as in cubicles. The difference between Dragon Professional and most voice recognition software is that it can actually learn to recognize your voice.Īs it becomes more familiar with your accent and speaking style, it interprets your voice remarkably accurately. This is well worth doing because Nuance’s Dragon Dictate software delivers by far the best voice recognition in the industry.ĭragon Professional offers accuracy of up to 99% and while you won’t always achieve this, the accuracy is truly impressive. In fact Microsoft was so impressed by Nuance’s range of products including Dragon Dictate that it bought Nuance for $16 billion in 2021.įirstly however, it’s important to be aware that in order to use Dragon Dictate on a Mac, you need to run Windows on your Mac.īy far the easiest way to do this is by using Parallels which makes it simple to install Windows on a Mac. When it comes to voice recognition, Dragon’s dictation products are by far the best on the market. The reason the Dragon Dictate range of dictation software is our number one choice as the best dictation software for Mac is the amazing accuracy and sophistication it offers compared to any other dictation tool.ĭragon products use unique Deep Learning technology that actually learn your accent and speaking style to deliver accuracy rates of up to 99%. Here then is our selection of the best dictation software for Mac in order of ranking. Note that web-based voice recognition and voice-to-text recognition apps all require a permanent internet connection in order to work. In these reviews, we’ve looked at a combination of offline and online dictation software that can be used on a Mac. You can read more about dictating on Mac in our guide on how to dictate on Mac. Siri also only works for US English and you need to be online to use it although there is a way to dictate offline on a Mac including on Apple Silicon M1 and M2 Macs.Īnything you dictate in Siri has to be sent to Apple’s servers too so bear this in mind if what you are dictating is confidential. Siri is still mainly designed as a personal assistant to launch apps, answer questions and generally speed-up your workflow on a Mac rather than dictation although since macOS Catalina, Apple is moving Siri closer towards being a more professional dictation software. However, although Siri doesn’t do a bad job of transcribing text, using Siri to dictate on a Mac is nowhere near as accurate as professional dictation software. Since macOS Catalina including Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura and Sonoma you can dictate on a Mac using Siri.

I have been using it for four years and find it very helpful for managing my digital space, files and for making lists of files.Į.g. There is a free trial available but I bought it for my project at a reasonable price. It can be used for indentifying types of file by extension. I also use it to see how many files I have in directories, how much space they take up and what they are. I use TS Pro to copy lists of files in directories and export into Excel for file inventories. TreeSize Professional can be started from the context menu of every folder or drive. For static scenes SketchUp is a great example of such an all-in-one environment that is reliable. Dealing with chronic issue does become tiresome.Īs much as I enjoyed learning how to hack this workflow together (mostly from pros on the Hitfilm forum) and as well as it sometimes works, my journey from here will probably be to focus on finding self contained environments that don’t require transferring models between softwares. The point here is that while MakeHuman, Mixamo, Blender and Hitfilm are all fine software, 3D workflows which depend upon moving data through multiple softwares seem inherently unreliable. Overall it seems the problem is that the 3D industry has failed to establish reliable data standards and so any time you try to move any 3D model from one place to another issues of various kinds are common. I’m not really qualified to diagnose what exactly the problem is in each particular case. A typical situation is that three assets make the trip to some other software just fine, while one doesn’t. Sometimes the assets are distorted, or simply vanish. However I’ve noticed that issues tend to arise when trying to transfer a MakeHuman character with user created assets to any other software, such as Blender or Hitfilm. Most of the assets, built-in and user created, look pretty good in MakeHuman. These built-in assets are complemented by a much larger collection of user created assets. MakeHuman comes with a quite limited number of built-in assets such as clothes which you can apply to the character. Best I can tell they’ve stopped developing it and have shifted focus to their other 3D products such as iClone. They have a 3D version at a higher price, but while I LOVE the 2D version, the 3D version didn’t seem ready for prime time. I see CrazyTalk is currently selling for $50, but if you get on their mailing list and are patient you can get it for less, $30 or so. The above examples were made when I first began learning CrazyTalk and don’t really do justice to what the software is capable of. The above talking head videos were made in CrazyTalk, one of my favorite softwares. I’ve since learned how to layer talking heads on top of moving characters in Hitfilm, which is rather more interesting. Thus, from an artistic perspective, one wonders what the point of the buildings are?Īnyway, to quickly illustrate a talking character, here’s a quick vid I made years ago when I was just getting started in all this. But the human component of Sketchup land is pretty lifeless. Architecture is created to serve human beings. Well, here’s a general philosophical point. Not sure what I would do with a talking character but it would be interesting to see one. I’m generally aware of that site, but hadn’t gotten around to engaging there yet. Would also suggest you start a thread on this topic in SketchUcation forum Would you be interested in creating characters who can talk? If yes, I could be helpful there.Īny portion of a model that can be accessed, can be animated.Īh, I see. Unreal Engine and Unity might possibly be a solution, but that’s a different subject, one I’m not qualified to comment on as of yet. And most of the Pro users probably don’t care about such things. I would love to see SketchUp evolved so that the scenes could more easily include people in action, but that’s probably asking too much, and if such a feature were added it would be quite unlikely to be included in the free version. The only solution I know at the moment is to export an animated SketchUp scene to a video, import the video in to Hitfilm, and then layer an animated 3D character on top of the SketchUp video. I could be wrong, that’s just my best understanding at the moment. You seem to already know that.īut as best I can tell you can’t animate parts of a character such as arms and legs to create real walking. I can see in Justin’s videos that in Animator you could animate a character sliding down the sidewalk for example. But I’m not sure that would help in regards to SketchUp. You can add a skeleton to a character in Mixamo, MakeHuman and probably Blender too. I was trying to see if there was a way to create a character and then animate it in SketchUp with Animator. It features tools like an intuitive sequencer, powerful instruments, professional effects, and intelligent automation. Turn left once more and you'll find a hole in the far wall leading to the shore follow the path down and you'll come across this Demon Door who only wants to speak to a prisoner. Facing the Keep's main gate, follow the bridge to the left across to the garden area. You'll only be able to find this Demon Door if you've got the Traitor's Keep DLC installed. Inside it you'll find a chest containing 1 million gold, along with some impressive scenery. This Demon Door will only open for a monarch, so simply come back once you've become King or Queen of Albion, which, given this is necessary to complete the story, makes this perhaps the easiest Demon Door to open, if not the first you'll manage to. The Demon Door can be found quickly by sticking to the left side of the path heading up the hill. Sunset House is an optional area of the game, and a little bit hidden you'll need to enter it from Mourningwood. The environment within initially resembles the Moon by playing with the orrery inside you can change the look of the environment to resemble several other planets in the Earth's solar system. The Mourningwood Demon Door holds a chest containing the full Military Suit clothing set. In order to open it, you'll need your melee or ranged weapon skill at level 5, and a fully upgraded Legendary Weapon equipped, which you should have once you reach the later stages of the game. The Demon Door in Mourningwood is fairly easy to come by it's on the outskirts of the Eco-Warrior Village, visible in the distance. Once inside, you'll find the Demon Door Retirement Home, the place all Demon Doors from the previous Fable games evidently go to, and a chest containing a random Legendary Weapon. To open it, you'll need to either marry in front of the Demon Door, or perform a large number of positive expressions in front if it (hugging, dancing, etc.). To open the Demon Door there, you'll need to invite a friend into your game via co-op play (either local or online). From the lake near the Mercenary Camp, head towards the mountains, keeping to the right side - you'll find a pass through the hills with a bridge overhead, leading to a snowy area with a frozen waterfall. This might be the first Demon Door you come across in your travels. Inside the Demon Door is a large cave area with a chest at the end, containing 40 Guild Seals. Many players have reported success by wearing the Pajama outfit of the opposite sex, and dying all the parts different colours. The second requirement seems to revolve around wearing "ugly" and mismatched clothing, possibly of different colours as well. The latter requirement is fairly easy simply eat fattening food and drink (mutton, alcohol, pie, etc.) until your weight level is as high as it gets (check the character stats in the Sanctuary). To open it, you'll have to "ignore fashion sense" and put on a good deal of weight. This Demon Door is fairly easy to find, lying roughly opposite Reaver's Manor, across the lake, behind the Timmins Towers house. Within, you'll be treated to a very attractive world reflecting your moral stance, and a chest holding a random Legendary Weapon appropriate to your good or evil nature. This isn't as difficult as it sounds once you get to this point in the game, and you can quickly improve or decrease your moral standing by donating or taking money from the Royal Treasury, or eating lots of Tofu or Crunchy Chicks. This Demon Door wants you to be firm in your moral commitments, which means you'll need to be either 100% good or evil (check your character status in the Sanctuary). Follow the path that goes up the hill out of town, near the way to Shifting Sands, but take a left as you get near the exit. Within the Demon Door lies a house full of skeletons busy in merry, possibly drunken revelry, and a chest containing 3 Summon Creatures Potions and 30 Guild Seals (check the upper floor).Īurora's Demon Door can be easily missed, but isn't necessarily hidden. The child needs to be of toddler age, not newborn, so you'll need to wait a while after conceiving, or alternately, bring an adopted child from the Bowerstone Orphanage. To open this Demon Door, you'll need to bring your own child and perform positive expressions with him or her. Note: if you have the Traitor's Keep DLC installed, you'll be able to gain an achievement, Set Them Free!, for opening all the Demon Doors in the game, including the new one added by Traitor's Keep.īrightwall's Demon Door is one of the easiest to find, located just to the right and down a short road immediately upon entering the town's front gates, past the market. Some of their requirements are steep, while others are easy to open, but the rewards, as always are some of the bigger ones in the game. It wouldn’t be Fable without Demon Doors to open, would it? The secret-hiding, riddle-spouting doors from previous games return in Fable III. They always contain the name of the service, a date, and transaction number. You know you always have those transactions that come through from the ride sharing services. I like to use the example of my credit card statement. Let’s first discuss the use of the payment reconciliation journal in Business Central to process credit card statements. Payment text is automatically matched with the entry information based on how you have the logic setup on the Text-to-Account Mapping page. You can also use it to automatically reconcile the bank account when the payments are applied. You can then review the entries and make any necessary changes to the automatic application prior to posting the payment reconciliation journal. Business Central will create the matches automatically (based on mappings you establish). This is a wonderful feature for being able to import data (statement) from a financial institution (bank or credit card vendor) and apply the entries based on matches with the text information from the statement. When sweeping from your operating account to a line of credit, you’re using those excess balances to reduce your interest expense.Did you know you could use the Payment Reconciliation Journals to perform tasks beyond just a simple import of a bank statement? How about using them to handle sweep accounts, or to reconcile credit card statements? Yes, I have used them for both. A complete overdraft protection solution.Save money by borrowing and paying interest on only the amount required to bring your checking account to its target balance.Would my business benefit from a Loan Sweep? Similar to a Target Balance Account, you and your banker decide what balance makes sense for your business based on your account activity to offset account service charges.Wants to reduce or eliminate idle balances and put your available cash to use by pooling it in a general operating account or line of creditĪ Business Sweep automatically transfers money from your checking account into an interest-bearing account or line of credit based on your parameters.Wants to fund an account on an “as needed” basis.Wants to reduce staff time spent monitoring and transferring funds between separate accounts.
Overall, this is still a decent deal for bargain hunters who are particularly looking for an RTX 3070-powered machine for less than US$1,000. As with many gaming laptops in this price range, the most glaring weakness of the Asus TUF Dash F15 may be its relatively dim 250-nits FHD display, which at least has a high native refresh rate of 144Hz. Among other things, we liked the compact and light design of this gaming laptop, but we also praised the Thunderbolt 4 connectivity as well as the second available M.2 SSD slot which makes storages upgrades extremely easy. We throughly tested a fairly similar QHD model of the Asus TUF Dash F15 earlier this year, and prospective buyers might want to check out our comprehensive video review on Notebookcheck's revitalized YouTube channel. The mid-range gaming laptop further has an official list price of US$1,500, which means that this deal offers US$500 or 33 percent in savings. This configuration of the Asus TUF Dash F15 also comes with 16GB of DDR5 memory and a decent 512GB SSD of the PCIe 3.0 variety. Once again it's the well-known US retailer Best Buy, which currently offers the aforementioned Asus TUF Dash F15 gaming laptop with the fast Intel Core i7-12650H Alder Lake processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 dGPU with a relatively low TGP of 105 watts for a discounted sale price of just US$999 including free shipping or store pickup where stock permits. Since most machines in this price range are equipped with reasonable dedicated graphics cards like Nvidia's RTX 3060, a current deal for the Asus TUF Dash F15 is particularly noteworthy since the 15-inch gaming laptop is powered by the more powerful GeForce RTX 3070. We're remotely covering the online-only show to bring you all the breaking tech news and launches, plus a smattering of hands-on reviews. The US$1,000 mark is an important threshold for many prospective buyers who don't like to spend a four-figure sum on their new gaming laptop. Check out all of TechRadar's CES 2021 coverage. The ROG Flow X13 and XG Mobile bundle is now available for pre-order starting at $2,999 (about £2,200 / AU$3,845). For now though, you gotta admit: it sounds like something you want to get your hands on to play with. Will this 2-in-1 route (in more ways than one) work better than the traditional way? Or will it be its downfall? We have yet to see. To kick things up a notch, it comes with the compact Asus ROG XG Mobile external GPU with up to a GeForce RTX 3080 GPU inside that can be clocked to 1810 MHz at 150W with ROG Boost. Here is the Asus TUF A15 configuration sent to TechRadar for review: CPU: 2.9GHz AMD Ryzen 7 4800H Processor (octa-core, 8MB cache, up to 4.2GHz boost) Graphics: Nvidia GeForce RTX. The Flow X13 itself is equipped with up to AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 graphics, which is a decent GPU in its own right. How exactly is it able to do that? By coming its own ultraportable eGPU, of course. That’s all while promising “desktop-class gaming.” It also apparently offers up to 10 hours of battery life. It takes things to a new (and perhaps weird) level by opting for a 13-inch convertible body that is only 0.62 inches thin and 2.9 pounds light. Asus ROG Flow X13Ĭonvertible gaming laptop with a mobile eGPUĬES 2021’s theme when it comes to gaming laptops seems to be the thinner and lighter the better, which somewhat explains the ROG Flow X13 from Asus. Now available for pre-order starting at $1,399 (£1,025, AU$1,800), the MSI Stealth 15M won’t start shipping until later this year. However, even in 2021, a 1080p screen is still plenty sharp for gaming. The display could be better, with MSI keeping things low-key with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. That’s pretty impressive, especially for a gaming laptop. In fact, it’s one of the first gaming laptops to feature Intel’s 11th-gen H35-Series mobile processors. That’s while packing 11th-gen Intel Core chips and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3000 graphics – the highest configuration gets you an Intel Core i7-11375H CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Max Q, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Being only 0.63-inch thick and 3.73 lbs light means that it’s thinner and lighter than both the MacBook Pro 16-inch and the Dell XPS 15. Though lofty claims of being the world’s thinnest gaming laptop are yet to be substantiated, the MSI Stealth 15M is certainly a solid contender for the title. Is this the world’s thinnest gaming laptop? Another game, Star Trek: Infinite, is coming out next week. And I would love to see Star Trek games kind of start to do that, too. Starting in kind of the early aughts, they built up this giant cool continuity between novels where if you were reading a Star Trek novel, it would bleed into the other novels and stuff. I have an ambition to eventually have this Star Trek gaming universe out there. And we're delighted to be a part of the fleet. Fans basically saying, "When is this ship going to be playable in STO?" And we're thrilled to be able to say, yes, now it is. And so, we really respected the work that you all have done, but I think it goes even further in that It was a fan outcry. You guys have been going for 14 years? Unbelievable. How did the Resolute joining STO come about?ĭan Martin: I can't tell you exactly who the person was that made the phone call, but we certainly have been talking about Star Trek: Resurgence in Star Trek Online for a very long time. You can mix and match and really kind of put your stamp on it.Īmazing. If you liked the Resolute saucer, but you want to use different nacelles. So there's a frigate, there's a light cruiser, advanced light cruiser, all sorts of different options that you could use the Resolute skin on, or the parts. So any Miranda class type ship they have, they can use the resolute skin on that, which is cool because there are a lot of them. We have a family of ships based on the Miranda class, and the Centaur is sort of lumped into that family, and that's the variant the Resolute is. There'll be a promotions tab, and they just go and claim the Resolute skin, and then it'll be available. We have a store interface where people can go to. Thomas Marrone: October 12th is the date. We'll definitely talk about the Enterprise-F in Picard, but let's drop the big news: The USS Resolute from Star Trek: Resurgence will be playable in Star Trek Online. If I die tomorrow, that will be put on my tombstone. The model they use in the show, which is sort of my big, the big feather that I will always, always bring up. I actually modeled the Enterprise-F for Star Trek Picard. I'm the Art director for Star Trek Online, so I lead the game's art team. So I kind of come with the pedigree of how we make Telltale Games. I've also had a Narrative Designer background and writer at Telltale. And I came on board as the sort of the Unreal expert for Resurgence and led design. I've been working with Telltale folks for a long time ,since Back to the Future and Jurassic Park. JD Straw: I go by JD, I'm the lead designer of Star Trek: Resurgence. And I'm delighted to be here and talk with our fellow Star Trek gamers. Before it was called Star Trek: Resurgence. I've been writing for games for 10 years, and I've been with Resurgence since before it even existed. I'm the lead writer on Star Trek: Resurgence. I was the first employee on Star Trek Online, and I've been here pretty much the whole time. I've been on Star Trek Online for 15-16 years. I've been at Cryptic Studios for 20 years. I am the creative director of Star Trek Online. Why don't we start off with introductions, and then I believe there's some big news.Īl Rivera: You can call me Al. Star Trek Online and Star Trek: Resurgence, two of the big guns of the Star Trek gaming world. Screen Rant: It’s a pleasure to be with you guys today. Screen Rant had the pleasure of interviewing Star Trek Online's Creative Director Al Rivera and Art Director Thomas Marrone, and Star Trek: Resurgence's Lead Writer Dan Martin and Lead Designer JD Straw for a fascinating interview about the state of Star Trek video games and to announce an exciting crossover between Star Trek Online and Star Trek: Resurgence.
